This past weekend, Let’s Go Urban got the opportunity to help an amazing organization, Tulsa Advocates for the Protection of Children (TAPC), with a fundraiser to benefit children in foster care and their foster families. This organization provides a wide range of services to help ease the difficulty of children in foster care placement.
This exciting journey began when we received a random phone call one day this past Spring from Chris, TAPC Director and she expressed an interest in working with Let’s Go Urban. She exuded so much passion for what her organization did and we were immediately intrigued. After several meetings, we laid out the plans for a unique fundraising opportunity.3. The plan was simple: we would put together an ultra-fun scavenger hunt and they would reach out to their sponsors for funds. They would then throw a party and enjoy their hunt while we monitored the hunt to ensure the teams played fair.
Our owner, Stephanee, says, “From the moment I picked up my event shirt from TAPC to the end of the hunt at The Vault, excitement could be felt everywhere! We enjoyed watching the hunt unfold and TAPC even provided a unique way to raise extra funds while the hunt was taking place. Basically, teams could detour a mission but still earn the points, for $25 each detour or they could provide a roadblock by subtracting 100 points from their team of choice for $50 each roadblock. The teams were so competitive that TAPC ended up earning an extra $600 from the players. I especially loved experiencing the stories people brought back with them at the end of their hunt. I am forever grateful to have worked with such a selfless organization and I have met some amazing people.”
We echo Stephanee’s sentiments and are so thankful to have found a way to give back to our community. It was such an honor to work with TAPC and we look forward to helping them raise even more funds in 2019!
